Forklift Courses

Barloworld Forklift Courses

The forklift training courses we offer are RTITB and ITSSAR approved. They are suitable for raising standards and improving safety for all levels of driver from novice to instructor, and can be tailored to the customers' specific requirements. Basic training for a novice will take between three and five days based on our maximum ratio of one instructor to three trainees. Barloworld Training

On passing the fork lift course operators receive a certificate which details the training received and to what type of equipment it relates. This is of course invaluable to any future employer who should check the certificate to ensure it matches the lifting equipment type being used. Training will also cover maintenance requirements and daily safety checks to minimize the chance of mechanical failure which may reduce safety and lead to accidents.

In addition we provide courses on a variety of specialised equipment such as clamp trucks, side loaders, whisky handlers, platform trucks, rough terrain trucks, telescopic handlers, overhead cranes and many other types of plant and warehouse equipment.

Courses for Managers and Supervisors - Sufficient training for operators should be supplemented by continued supervision from a trained supervisor. Barloword's Lift Truck Awareness course gives Managers and Supervisors an understanding of basic lift truck principles, risks and HSE guidelines. This knowledge gives management staff the means to make sure drivers stick to best practice. Contact us for details

fork lift courseRefresher courses - The training needs of fork lift truck drivers must be reviewed from time to time, even when they are fully qualified. For example, lift truck familarisation, refresher or conversion training is often required when new types of trucks are introduced into the workplace or when operators are given new job roles. Employers should remember that drivers are only qualified on the truck type they have a license for and should not be asked to drive another type of vechicle without proper conversion training. When monitoring number of accidents and damage an employer may decide to invest in further refresher training for drivers to improve confidence and remind staff of best practice. Barloworld Handling can provide all the refresher and conversion your organization requires. Again this can be held onsite or at one of or driver training facilities. Contact us for details.

Manual Handling Courses - Manual handling is the most common cause of injury resulting in three or more days off work in the UK. Unless materials are handled correctly in the workplace, such activities can cause injury by putting a strain on the limbs, tendons, heart and most commonly the muscles and back. Further details

According to HSE statistics, 247,000 people from 2006 to 2007 reported suffering work related MSD (Musculoskeletal Disorder, a symptom of strain from manual handling) costing UK employers an estimated 10 million lost working days and £600million. The risk of accidents and injury can be significantly reduced through appropriate training and a level of understanding to support it. Adequate training also presents economic benefits to the company, by reducing staff absenteeism which in turn cuts unnecessary additional costs of replacement staff, sick pay or, in extreme cases, compensation payouts. Barloworld's half day to two day kinetic courses meet the Directive requirements of The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and HSE guidelines for handling techniques to reduce the risk of injury. A variety of courses can be carried out onsite at a company's premises or at any of Barloworld's training centres. Ask us for details
